Understanding the Note Editor

After generating a note, AutoNotes takes you to the Note Editor, the workspace where you review, refine, and finalize your documentation. If you have linked a client, you’ll also see client details and recommendations on the right side of the page.

Updated today

1. Session Overview (Top of the Page)

At the top, you’ll see:

  • Session title (e.g., Session w/ John on 12.11)

  • Service type

  • Date & time

  • Duration

  • Location (Telehealth or In-Person)

  • Modalities used

These details come from the information you provided earlier and appear on finalized documentation.

2. Linked Client Panel (Right Sidebar)

If you linked a client, you’ll see:

  • Client name & status

  • Age

  • Profile picture (if uploaded)

  • AI Recommendations (auto-generated after finalizing)

This panel helps you monitor context across sessions and access profile info quickly.

3. Document Tabs

Every document you generated appears as a tab, such as:

  • SOAP Note

  • DAP Note

  • Treatment Plan

  • Discharge Summary

You can click + Add Note to generate additional formats using the same session data.

4. Editable Note Sections

Each section is fully editable with rich text tools (bold, italics, lists, headings).

Examples for a DAP note include:

  • Data

  • Assessment

  • Plan

For SOAP notes, you’ll see:

  • Subjective

  • Objective

  • Assessment

  • Plan

AutoNotes autosaves every edit, no Save button required.

5. Magic Edit (AI Rewrite)

The Magic Edit button lets you refine text with AI. You can:

  • Shorten content

  • Expand clinical detail

  • Improve clarity

  • Adjust tone (more formal, concise, etc.)

6. Copy & Download Options

In the top-right of the document:

  • Copy All — copies the entire document

  • Download — exports your note

These options make sharing or uploading documentation easy.

7. Finalize Your Note

If a client is linked, you’ll see a Finalize button next to Magic Edit.

Finalizing:

  • Locks in the session documentation

  • Enables AI Recommendations for the client

  • Updates the client’s timeline/history

  • Signals the note is completed for clinical or billing purposes

Finalized notes can still be viewed but may have restricted editing depending on your organization’s settings.

8. Add Additional Documents

Need a Treatment Plan or Discharge Summary too?

Just click: + Add Note

AutoNotes generates new documents using the same session info, saving you time and duplication of effort.
